An Attitude of Gratitude
A Four Week Sermon Series on Developing a lifestyle of Gratitude and Thanksgiving to God.

November 1: “All Saint's Sunday” - Hebrews 11:32-12:3
Today is All Saint’s Sunday, a day to give God our thanks for the love and life we share with all the saints. On this glorious day, we get to gather together with ALL of our loved ones---those present, and those who have left this world for a better one. They are all here with us---literally present with us in our worship. When God’s family gets together the whole family is here---alive and well and celebrating with us.

November 8: “St. Andrew Sunday” -  John 1:35-42
Andrew is kind of a quiet guy. We don’t read much about him in Scripture.  He’s only mentioned 12 times in the Bible, and 4 of those are when his name is listed with the names of the other 11 apostles. Even in the traditions of the early church, he’s one of the few disciples about whom there are few legends. But that’s not to say that Andrew is unimportant. The times he IS mentioned in the Gospels he’s usually doing something very important… he’s bringing people to Jesus.  Andrew had such profound gratitude to Jesus that he could not help but share the joy with others.  Our calling as Christians is to be a lot more like Andrew.

November 15: “An Attitude of Gratitude” -
1 Timothy 6:6-16
Having an attitude of gratitude is an act of faith. It means you are unafraid to live and be happy because you have faith in a God who cares for you and provides for you. He is faithful and his promises are true. He never fails. And because you have a relationship with this wonderful God you have contentment, joy and a desire to pass on some of what God has blessed you with. To trust is to thank. It creates an attitude of gratitude.

November 22: “ThanksLiving” - 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24
The Bible tells us that by giving thanks to God in all things, we will be blessed, and we will KNOW that God is in our midst!  We will now that God is with us, for we will be given God’s Spirit of grace, peace, healing and love.  By praising God and offering thanks in all things, we will find rest, we will find comfort, we will be healed, for we will be given the very presence of God in our lives; and that is in itself PLENTY to be thankful for!
