Caring and Nurturing Ministries

Living Word has an exciting system of lay caring ministries within the congregation. For more information, please contact one of our pastors or Wendy Sain in the church office.

Ministry of Compassion

Ministry of Compassion is designed to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of our congregation. Through this ministry, church members provide meals and transportation to families in our congregation to help them through hospitalization, birth of a baby, death in the family and other acute need situations.

Prayer Chain

A church-wide prayer chain has been set up to pray for those in special need of God’s healing touch and grace. If you are interested in being part of our prayer team, lifting up to the Lord our cares and concerns, contact the church office. If you or someone you know is in need of prayers, please let us know these cares and concerns in one of the following ways:
- Complete one of the Prayer Cards found in the pews or on the tear off sheet in the Sunday bulletin.

- Please email prayer requests click here.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministers are specially trained lay members of our church who provide Christian care giving and support for people who are facing various crises in their lives, such as a terminal illness, grief, hospitalization, job crisis, spiritual crisis, separation or divorce, birth, adoption or disability. These lay ministers receive 50 hours of intensive training through the Stephen Series. This is a confidential ministry in which those receiving care can be sure that their identity and disclosures will remain private. Stephen Ministers receive ongoing support and continuing education as they strive to provide the highest quality Christian care giving.

Our Mission:
“To manifest Christ’s command that we love one another as He loves us by providing care, support, prayer and fellowship.”

Son-Shine Visitation Ministry

This ministry reaches into the lives of our members who desire occasional visits, cards and phone calls – but most of all, friendship. It “brings a little Son-Shine” to many people who are ill, have chronic health conditions which limit their mobility, have no family close by, or who are quite active and just love meeting new friends. Visits may last from 15 minutes to one hour. Visitors might be asked to sit quietly and listen to music, work on a puzzle, listen to stories of long ago or to offer prayers. Contact Wendy Sain wsain@livingwordumc.org for more information.

That All May Worship

That All May Worship,” Living Word’s Special Needs Ministry is a natural extension of the congregation’s Mission, "To bring Jesus Christ to all people, stregthen their faith, and prepare them for ministry."
