September 6---“Anyway”  Galatians 6:7-10
All of us grow weary from time to time in our day to day living as parents, grand parents, husbands, wives, employees and employers. In the social work world it is known as “burnout.” It happens with a very dedicated, committed person suddenly wakes up and realizes he is tired. Tired of giving, tired of doing, tired of serving. He finds that the joy of service is gone. What is true in the secular world is also true in the spiritual world. In our Christian walk, we will encounter hardship and hostility but we must remember that even if we feel like we are not making a difference we need to be like Jesus, and we need to do it anyway.  For when we do that, we will receive the joy that is set before us.

September 13---“There Goes My Life”  Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
Get out the kleenex, 'cause your baby is going to college, and when we watch them go with tears in our eyes many of us will be saying “There Goes my life!” The hardest part is often "letting go". College is part of a student's search for maturity and self-identity. Parents or guardians need to change their style of parenting with their college-age students. Although students still need love and support, the parental figures in their lives need to become less involved. We’ll explore tools to help us let go.

September 20---“Wasted”   2 Corinthians 5:16-19
How many of us here today are haunted by our yesterdays?  How many of us are wasting our todays and tomorrows because of our yesterdays? We have done something to hurt someone, we made a poor choice that still rips us apart; someone has done something terrible to us and we just can’t move past it.  Our joy today is robbed by the regrets of yesterday.  That is not what God wants for us!  If we allow God to do so, He can make certain that we do not have wasted lives.

September 27---“The Good Stuff”  Philippians 4:4-9
Most of us are so caught up with the negative stuff of life that we fail to see the good, the positive, the blessings, the excitement, and the enchantment of life. No wonder we’re not as happy as we could be. We need to slow down and focus on all the good stuff that is around us instead of dwelling on the negative.
