World Communion Sunday - Mark 14: 12 - 26
Despite our human propensity for division, with God there is neither Jew nor gentile, slave or free, man nor woman or any other man-made excuse for division. Holy Communion not only tells us that, when we receive it, we make a bold faith statement that we accept this truth. There is a wondrous and life-giving dimension in this Eucharistic truth for each of us. No matter how many have separated themselves from us, no matter how often others have denied us our dignity as human beings, our dignity as women and men of God, we are still at one with God. The sacrament of the Eucharist not only invites us into this oneness but it invites us, not alone but together. It is in that togetherness that we become the Body of Christ.
